Observation

5)b) Doors had bells that did not make a sound when the doors were opened. The bells did not ring until the door closed. This would not be in time for a staff to prevent a child from leaving unsupervised. Dispute Description: There is no way that a child could leave our classrooms without being seen or heard as our doors are so heavy that some adults have a hard time with them. We do have bells on the doors and went to new bells as the chiming ones did not always work. During the visit I actively tried with Peri to come up with a different way for them to ring the way she wanted. (they do ring for all to hear though). During the visit we came up with the way for them to be heard the way she wanted and changed them all that way. Because of this and the correction right there on the spot of moving the bell that was already there in a different way, I do not feel a violation should be warranted. We had the bell and just needed to turn it upside down for it to work the way she wanted. We were actively trying to do our best and what was right. Thank you!
